History.

Equestrian activities were first introduced to 401 Corkstown Road in 1974. The park was municipally run, offering lessons for all levels of riders, boarding facilities, educational clinics, sporting events and therapeutic riding for people with special needs. Construction of the main office and stabling facilities began in 1976, followed by the indoor arena in 1981. The cross-country course was designed with materials harvested from the park and neighbouring Ottawa Municipal Campground. The site also included a world-class Grand Prix field, which is now one of a rare few international level grass jumping arenas remaining in Canada.

401 Corkstown Road later began hosting international equestrian competitions, between 1999 and 2003 the former week-long Capital Classic featured 700 horses and attracted thousands spectators. Still home to an active equestrian community, the location of Wesley Clover Parks makes equestrian offerings here uniquely urban as few stables and show jumping tournaments in North America are situated in such close proximity to a major city.

In 2015, Wesley Clover Parks continued to build upon the community’s passion for horse sport with the introduction of the Ottawa Equestrian Tournaments. These national and international level shows have expanded to offer more than a dozen competitions, hosting over 4,500 horses and tens of thousands visitors to enjoy top level equestrian sport every year!
