Equi Workshop: Trauma
Trauma
PTSD workshop (post-traumatic stress)
Horses have been increasingly recognized for their therapeutic benefits in helping individuals cope with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Interacting with horses can promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-awareness. Equine-assisted therapy, also known as horse therapy, involves various activities such as grooming, riding, and connecting with horses, which creates a unique bond between the individual and the animal. The rhythmic movement of horses can have a calming effect on the nervous system, helping to regulate emotions and alleviate symptoms of PTSD. Additionally, horses are highly sensitive animals and can mirror the emotional state of the person interacting with them, providing valuable feedback and promoting emotional healing. In the presence of horses, individuals with PTSD may experience a sense of trust, empowerment, and improved self-esteem, contributing to their overall well-being and recovery.

About Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ):
Major League Show Jumping is a fresh concept that brings 5* Show Jumping to spectacular North American venues, including Wesley Clover Parks! A team jumping tour made up of eight teams, each MLSJ team is comprised of six riders – from any nation.
Top talent and stunning venues guarantee great sport, but it’s the innovative format of the team event that sets MLSJ apart. With three rounds of fast paced team sport packed into one thrilling hour and half competition, it’s a concept designed to be engaging, exciting and easy to follow! The MLSJ Ottawa 5* 1.50m Team Event will take place on Saturday, August 24 at 4PM.
Once team competition wraps, it’s every individual rider for themselves in the Grand Prix on Sunday as they compete for a chance at a second massive payday! The MLSJ Ottawa 5* RBC Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, August 25 at 11AM.
What is 5* Show Jumping? FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) sanctioned events are given star (*) classifications to designate both the height of the jumps and total prize money offered. 5* is the highest level of international show jumping competition!
How the MLSJ Team Event works: Three rounds of high stakes, fast-paced competition that rewards speed, risk and strategy!
ROUND 1: All eight teams compete over a 1.50M course. Each team fields three riders who compete back-to-back. The team score is the total of their combined faults. The goal: stay above the cut line. Only the top four teams advance to the next round.
ROUND 2: Returning in reverse order, the slate is wiped clean in Round Two, a speed course where faults convert to time penalties. Knock a pole and three seconds are added to the clock. The twist: only riders from each of the top four teams compete in this round. The sum of their times determines the team score. The top two teams advance to the gold medal match. The bottom two team advance to the bronze medal match.
ROUND 3: Riding the same course as round two and returning to a zero score, the Medal Round is a showdown that decides the podium standings. The team rider who didn’t compete in round two takes the field for the Medal Round. One rider against one rider, fastest time wins. The entire MLSJ team event takes about an hour and a half. Thrilling high stakes action is guaranteed!

Equi Workshop: Relationships
Relationships
How to understand them?
Horses have an innate ability to reflect our emotions and intentions, making them powerful teachers when it comes to understanding our relationship patterns. These magnificent creatures can sense our energy and respond accordingly, giving us valuable insights into our own behavior. Through interactions with horses, we can become aware of any subconscious patterns or fears that may be affecting our relationships. For example, if we approach a horse with hesitation or fear, they will mirror our hesitation back to us. By observing their reactions, we can begin to recognize and address these patterns in our interactions with others. Horses provide a non-judgmental and honest reflection of our inner selves, allowing us to explore and transform our relationship dynamics. So, if you're looking to gain a deeper understanding of your relationship patterns, spending time with horses can be a transformative experience.
